Morpheus
Μορφεύς
The god who borrows human form to appear in dreams.
A son of Hypnos who appears in Ovid's Metamorphoses; his name comes from morphē, "form."
Appearing in dreams as a human is his job. His brothers took the forms of beasts and objects.
In the early 1800s, a painkiller extracted from opium was given his name: morphine.
