Tethys
Τηθύς
Wife of Oceanus and mother of all the rivers.
Hesiod writes that with Oceanus she bore three thousand rivers and three thousand water nymphs.
One tradition says she raised Hera, so she is sometimes summoned as a mediator in the quarrels of the gods.
In geology, the ancient sea of deep time is called the Tethys Sea — after her.

Commonly confused
She is a different deity from Thetis (Θέτις), the mother of Achilles. In Korean both are often written "Tetis," which makes them especially easy to confuse. This one is a Titan; the other is a sea nymph.
