Andromache
Ἀνδρομάχη
The wife who begged Hector not to go out and fight.
The scene at the gate — holding her infant son, pleading with her husband to stay — is often called the most human moment in the Iliad.
When the baby cries, frightened by the plume on his helmet, Hector takes it off and laughs — a single frame of ordinary life set inside a war epic.
After the city fell, her son was thrown from the walls, and she was carried off by the son of Achilles.
