The old king of Troy who walked alone into the enemy camp to bring his son home.
He had a great many children, among them Hector, Paris, and Cassandra.
When Hector's body was dragged behind a chariot, he went alone by night to Achilles' tent and knelt.
"Think of your own father," he pleaded — and the Iliad ends with Achilles weeping beside him.
