Antiope

Ἀντιόπη

Mother of Amphion, long abused, rescued at last by her grown twin sons.

Zeus came to her in the form of a satyr, and she bore the twins Amphion and Zethus.

Separated from her newborn sons, she was long abused by Dirce, wife of her uncle Lycus. When her grown sons recognized their mother, they bound Dirce to a bull — repaying her by her own method.

That execution scene is carved into the colossal Roman-era sculpture known as the Farnese Bull. The sons went on to build the walls of Thebes.
