Ἠχώ
A nymph condemned to repeat only the last words others spoke.
She distracted Hera with chatter to cover for Zeus's affairs — and Hera cursed her to only ever repeat the ends of others' words.
She loved Narcissus but could never speak first; after he rejected her, her body faded until only her voice remained.
The word echo is her name.
