Narcissus

Νάρκισσος

A youth so entranced by his own image he could not leave the water's edge.

Because he accepted no one's love, Nemesis, goddess of retribution, led him to a spring.

Not knowing the face in the water was his own, he fell in love with it and wasted away, unable to leave.

The flower that bloomed on that spot is the narcissus. Narcissism, the word for self-love, comes from here too.
