Eurynome

Εὐρυνόμη

The Oceanid who bore the Charites — and hid the outcast Hephaestus for nine years.

With Zeus, Hesiod tells, she bore the Charites, the three goddesses of grace.

The Iliad holds another scene: when Hephaestus was hurled from heaven, Eurynome and Thetis hid him in a sea cave, where he worked the forge for nine years.

The mother of grace was also the savior of the god called the ugliest. The first jewelry Hephaestus ever made was offered, in that cave, to these two goddesses.
