Labdacus
Λάβδακος
The Labdacus behind "House of Labdacus," the name for Oedipus's family.
He is Cadmus's grandson and the father of Laius.
The tragedians called Oedipus's family the "House of Labdacus" — the Labdacids. His name became the nameplate of a cursed lineage, yet almost no story of the man himself survives.
Some modern readings connect the name to limping and trace a "gait" motif through the family, from Laius down to Oedipus — "swollen foot."
