Leda
Λήδα
The Spartan queen who bore eggs after Zeus came to her as a swan.
The story goes that she lay with her husband the same day, so divine and mortal children were born mingled together.
From the eggs came Helen and the Dioscuri — Castor and Polydeuces.
"Leda and the Swan" became one of the most frequently painted mythological scenes in Western art from the Renaissance onward.
