Nereus
Νηρεύς
A sea prophet who never tells a lie.
Hesiod calls him "truthful and gentle" — praise few figures in myth ever receive.
With Doris he fathered the fifty Nereids, sea nymphs who count Thetis and Amphitrite among them.
When Heracles came asking where the golden apples were, Nereus was seized — and shifted through every shape he had, refusing to answer.
