Phorcys
Φόρκυς
The old sea god who fathered the Gorgons and the Graeae.
Son of Pontus and Gaia, he is an ancient sea god called, like Nereus, an "Old Man of the Sea."
With his sister Ceto, Hesiod tells, he fathered the Graeae, the Gorgon sisters including Medusa, and the serpent that guards the golden apples.
In the Odyssey, the harbor of Ithaca bears his name — "the harbor of Phorcys." A rather dignified trace, for the father of monsters.
