The god who shakes both sea and land with his trident.
Brother of Zeus, he took the sea, and he strikes the ground with his trident to raise earthquakes.
He is also the god who created the horse — called both "Earth-shaker" and patron of horsemen.
He competed with Athena to be patron of Athens, and lost to the goddess who offered the olive tree.
When Odysseus blinded his son Polyphemus, he blocked the hero's homecoming for ten years.
