Father of Ajax, first over the walls in Heracles' earlier expedition against Troy.
He is Peleus's brother — which makes Ajax and Achilles cousins.
According to Apollodorus, he was banished by his father Aeacus for killing his brother Phocus, and settled on Salamis.
He joined Heracles' first expedition against Troy and was the first over the walls. His son Ajax's stubborn valor came from this father.
