Astraea

Ἀστραία

The star-maiden who, despairing of humankind, was the last to abandon the earth.

Ovid writes that in the Golden Age the gods lived among mortals, and as the ages worsened they departed one by one.

Astraea stayed the longest of all — then rose at last into the sky and became the constellation Virgo.

The scales she carried hang beside her as Libra.
