Clio
Κλειώ
The goddess of record, whose very name means "to make famous."
She is depicted holding a scroll and tablets. Her task is to keep what has happened from being forgotten.
The nine books of Herodotus's Histories each bear the name of a Muse — and the first book is Clio's.
Her name shares a root with kleos, "glory" — the very thing heroes staked their lives to win.
