Electryon
Ἠλεκτρύων
King of Mycenae and father of Alcmene, killed by a club his son-in-law threw.
Son of Perseus and Andromeda, he was king of Mycenae.
A club thrown by his future son-in-law Amphitryon, driving cattle, glanced off a cow's horn and struck him. Apollodorus records it — one of the most futile royal deaths in myth.
The accident drove Amphitryon and Alcmene into exile in Thebes, and Zeus seized the opening. The birth story of Heracles begins, in effect, with this stray club.
