Mount Olympus
Ὄλυμπος
Greece's highest peak, where the gods were believed to dwell above the clouds.
It is not an imaginary place but a real mountain, in northern Greece, 2,917 meters high.
Homer wrote that up there is neither snow nor rain — only cloudless, perfect clarity.
The Olympics were held not on this mountain but at Olympia in the Peloponnese. What they share is being sacred ground of Zeus.
