Troy
Τροία
The city whose walls were built by gods.
Its walls were raised by Apollo and Poseidon while they served out a punishment, so no human force could bring them down.
Under the banner of reclaiming Helen, the Greek alliance besieged it for ten years — and in the end, a single wooden horse brought it down.
Long dismissed as pure legend, it was revealed as a real city by Schliemann's excavations in the 1870s.
