Granddaughter of Io and great-grandmother of Europa, who left her name on the land of Africa.
She is the granddaughter of Io, who was driven all the way to Egypt as a cow.
By Poseidon she bore Agenor, and Agenor's daughter is Europa. The land name Libya (Africa) and the land name Europa (Europe) came out of three generations of one family.
To the Greeks, Libya meant the entire continent west of Egypt.
