Oeagrus
Οἴαγρος
The Thracian river god who fathered Orpheus with the Muse Calliope.
He is variously called a river god of Thrace, or its king.
Apollodorus writes that Calliope bore Orpheus and Linus "by Oeagrus — in name, by Apollo." The father who begot and the father who was named stand side by side in a single sentence.
His other son Linus was beaten to death with a lyre while teaching Heracles music. One household produced both the pinnacle of music and the worst music lesson in history.
