Asteria
Ἀστερία
The Titan who threw herself into the sea to escape Zeus — and became the island of Delos.
She is Leto's sister. According to Hesiod, she bore Hecate to Perses.
Apollodorus tells that, fleeing Zeus' advances, she leapt into the sea in the form of a quail — and rose again in that spot as an island.
The quail's island, Ortygia — the future Delos. It was on this island that her hunted, homeless sister Leto gave birth to Apollo and Artemis.
